In 1985, I visited Europe for the first time, and saw London, Amsterdam and Paris. While in each of those cities, I saw streetlights near palaces and other large buildings that were unique and beautiful. That started my collection of streetlights, and I continue until this day.
Early in the process, I put the photographs in an album. In about 1995, when I first started creating Web pages, I began an online collection. If you are interested in streetlights, I recommend you visit that site and take some time to look at the photos. Over the years I have convinced friends (some of whom travel much more than I do) to take photos for me, so you can see streetlights through the eyes of many from a variety of locations.
In 2012, I decided to self publish a book of my streetlights, complete with a history of streetlights. This book, called Street Lights of the World, is available from Amazon.com (including its European arms), Create-Space, and at some bookstores and libraries. The ISBN is 9781480091184
Shortly after publishing the book, I created this blog. The blog provides a forum for posting new photographs of streetlights. Yes, the photographs will still be included in the online collection. However, if you would like to see “what is new,” you can find it more easily here.
Let me know what you think.
